It’s been five years since Disney bought Pixar and its animation studios, and with the deal closing this month, we’ve got a glimpse of what the future might look like for animation.
While the two studios were never intended to be independent, the acquisition has made them part of Disney Animation Studios, which includes Pixar, Marvel Studios and other properties.
And with Disney Animation and Pixar sharing the same offices, it means there are plenty of familiar faces in the studio.
From the opening titles to the new movies, here are the best clips from the past five years.
Hollywood has always been an animated destination, but there have been a lot of animated films released in the past few years that have been popular on the big screen.
The most recent entry is a collaboration between Pixar and Warner Bros., and this year sees a new entry, “Tangled,” from the Walt Disney Animation Studio.
It’s about a group of misfits who work at a museum who go on adventures to visit exotic places, and in this case, they meet an animatronic rabbit.
The studio has also made a few films with the same cast of characters, such as “Beauty and the Beast,” “The Lion King” and “Frozen.”
We also got a peek at what’s coming in 2017, including “Dumbo,” which is based on a book by Disney illustrator Frank Bruni, and a story about the family of mice that makes up the Mouseketeers, who also appear in the animated film.
