A pair of lucky animal crossing companies are trying to turn that into a trend.
The company, Lucky Animal Crossing, and the Animal Humane Society are working together to set up a hotline that will help animals in the Southland and surrounding areas escape from animal cruelty.
They hope to reach as many as 15,000 animals, according to Lucky Animal Crossings spokesperson, Kelli Johnson.
The company is also helping to establish a program to provide financial support to those involved in animal rescues.
“We want to encourage the local communities to do their part and work together in the fight against animal cruelty,” Johnson said.
She said the hotline will allow people to call the rescue center or animal control, and have the information transferred to the caller.
Lucky Animal Crossing is the third company to open a hotline in the region, following two in the Los Angeles and Orange Counties, and one in the San Bernardino area.
Lucky is part of a national network of animal rescue organizations that are helping to provide services for animals in crisis.
The Humane Society of the United States and its partners have been helping animals in Los Angeles County and San Bernardino County since 2007.
They work with local rescue organizations to provide them with basic necessities such as food, medical supplies and shelter.
In Southern California, the Animal Care and Control Society and Animal Rescue Foundation work together to provide assistance with the veterinary and medical needs of animals.
