Posted October 20, 2018 07:23:33A new study released this week by the New York Times has revealed that the average cost of a production is nearly four times higher than previously thought.
According to the study, the average production costs of an animated film, for example, are $1.9 million to make, or more than $2 million to produce an animated feature.
That means an animated movie costing $5 million to $6 million is actually over three times more expensive than previously estimated.
And if you include the costs of a script and the marketing budget, the cost of producing an animated release can reach more than five times the amount of the theatrical release.
So why do these figures matter?
The Times reported that the cost per screen, for an animated project, is typically around $1,200, but the Times also noted that the price of an expensive studio release is around $3,000 to $5,000.
This is because studios spend a lot of money on marketing.
When the price per screen is factored in, the study found that the costs per screen range from $2,000 for Disney Pixar’s “Toy Story 4” to $10,000,000 per year for Disney Marvel’s “Avengers: Infinity War.”
This is because the average animation production cost is about $1 million.
