Can the Playstation 3 Play Playstation 2 Games?

Playstation 3 Backwards Compatibility
The basic model of the Playstation 3 can play some Playstation 2 games, but not all. Through a subscription, users can stream hundreds of Playstation 2 titles as well as play select PS3 titles.
Playing PS2 Games
To sum up, if you own an older Playstation 3, then you may be able to play Playstation 2 games on it. However, Playstation 3 Slim models do not have this functionality. If you own a newer model, the Playstation Now service may be the best way to access Playstation 2 games.
