Object of the Game
The goal of Palace is to score the most points by the end of the game. Points are collected by collecting sets of cards which can create different formations.
Set Up
- Shuffle the deck
- Deal 3 cards face down to each player
- Place the rest of the cards in the center of the table
Gameplay
- The player to the left of the dealer starts by picking up one of the three face down cards
- Players then take turns drawing either a card from the centre stack or picking up one of the face down cards
- The player’s turn ends when they discard a card to the discard pile in the centre of the table (or they draw two cards and discard one)
- The game continues in this fashion until one player has all three cards of the same kind (a set of three), or has all three cards of the Palace formation.
Penalties
Players cannot look at the face down cards or pass their cards to another player. Both of these actions incur a 5-point penalty.
Scoring
When a player creates a set of three, they score points according to the value of the set. There are also extra points for creating a Palace formation.
- Set of three: 7 points
- Palace formation: 20 points
The game continues until one of the players reaches a score of 50. The player with the highest score at the end of the game is the winner.
