How To Play The Card Game President
Games of strategy and chance, card games are one of the most popular forms of entertainment. President is a fast-paced competitive card game that is also known as “Asshole” in some circles, and is played by two or more players.
Object of the Game
Players compete with each other to become the President of the game, and the game continues until this goal is achieved.
Number of Players
President can be played with anywhere between two and seven players. Each player should get an equal number of cards.
Number of Cards
President is played with a regular deck of 52 cards. The Ace is the highest ranked card, followed by the King, Queen, Jack and so on down to the 2.
How to Deal
Players draw cards to decide who goes first. The player with the highest card becomes the “President” for the first round. The player to their left is the Vice President, and each other player after that is ranked from the highest card to the lowest. The President will then start the game by dealing out a number of cards to each player, depending on the number of players in the game.
Playing the Game
The first player to go is the President. They can play any card or combination of cards. The player to the left (Vice President) must then play a higher card or combination of cards. Play continues in this way with each player trying to beat the previous player’s card or combination of cards. The round is over when everyone has either matched the previous player’s card or combination of cards, or has passed. Once the round is over, the President collects the cards, and re-deals them to start the next round.
Basic Rules/Points System
- Aces are High – The Ace is always the highest ranked card in the deck, followed by the King, Queen, Jack, 10, and so on.
- Jokers are Wild – Jokers are always wild and can be used to complete any combination.
- Power Cards – The King, Queen, Jack and 10 are called “Power Cards” and can be used to complete a combination of two or more cards (e.g. one King, one Queen and one Jack).
- The President is King – At the end of each round, the President collects all the cards and starts the next round. The President cannot be beaten by any card or combination of cards.
Scoring System
At the end of each round, each player is awarded one point. The President is awarded two points. This point system continues until one player has reached a predetermined number of points, i.e. 5, 10, 15 etc. The winner is then declared the President for the remainder of the game.
