How to Play Spoons
Spoons is a classic game that is easy to learn, with a fun twist. It can be played with three or more people and can become very competitive in a matter of minutes! All you need to get started is a deck of cards and a few spoons.
Setting Up
- To begin, first determine how many people will be playing. For three or more players, there should be one fewer spoons than players (for four players, three spoons will be used).
- Place the spoons in the middle of the table, where everyone can reach them.
- Shuffle the deck of cards and deal four cards face-down to each player.
Gameplay
The game starts after all the players have received their four cards. Starting with the player to the left of the dealer and moving clockwise, each player will pick up the top card from the deck and look at what card it is. Then, they will keep the card and discard one of the cards from their hand face-down in the middle of the table, for the next player to pick up. This will continue until someone collects four of the same rank (i.e. four Aces, four sixes, etc). When this happens the player should grab a spoon before anyone else.
Once someone has grabbed a spoon, all players should reach to grab a spoon. The player who doesn’t get one is out of the game and one spoon should be taken away.
The game continues until there is only one player left. This player is the winner and they can grab any remaining spoons and put them away. The game can then be restarted with the same number of players and same number of spoons.
Have Fun!
Once the rules are set, you can start playing. It is a very simple game that is great for all ages and a lot of enjoyment can be had from playing. Be sure to keep the game moving fast and keep everyone engaged!
