Is WOW on Game Pass?
World of Warcraft (WoW) is one of the most popular and widely played MMORPGs available, and many gamers would love to have it as part of their Xbox Game Pass. Sadly, the answer to the question of whether WoW is available on Game Pass is a resounding ‘no’.
Why isn’t WOW on Game Pass?
Unfortunately, WoW is not yet available on Game Pass. This is due to a few reasons:
- Licensing – WoW is owned by Blizzard, who has its own licensing requirements that need to be met before allowing a game to be available for a subscription service.
- Platform restrictions – WoW is currently only available for Mac and PC. As Xbox is only compatible with Microsoft Windows and Xbox One, this creates a barrier for the game to be released on Xbox Game Pass.
- Revenue model – WoW has its own revenue model which involves a set monthly subscription fee; something which Game Pass may not be able to accommodate.
Will WOW be on Game Pass in the Future?
Sadly, as of right now, there’s no indication that WoW will be available on Game Pass in the near future. Given the above reasons, it’s difficult to see how or when the game might become available on the subscription service.
That said, Microsoft and Blizzard have had a long and successful partnership, so anything is possible. The only thing we can do is to wait and see if Microsoft and Blizzard can work something out in the future that would allow WoW to join Game Pass.
In the meantime, if you’re a WoW fan, you’ll still be able to enjoy the game on PC and Mac, and access all its content through the subscription service offered by Blizzard.
