The following generation raised the bar yet again, as the Pokemon Ruby Version and Pokemon Sapphire Version contained a whopping 135 new Pokemon on top of the existing 151 from previous generations, bringing the total to 386 available creatures.
Pokémon Diamond & Pearl Versions
The fourth generation of Pokemon games, Pokemon Diamond Version and Pokemon Pearl Version, introduced the most new Pokemon yet, 97, on top of the 386 existing, bringing the total number of available Pokemon to 483.
Pokémon Black & White Versions
The fifth generation of Pokemon games, Pokemon Black Version and Pokemon White Version, raised the bar yet again. These two games contained a total of 156 Pocket Monsters, bringing the total number up to 649 available creatures!
Pokémon Black & White Versions 2
The follow-up versions, Pokemon Black Version 2 and Pokemon White Version 2, contained another 71 new Pokemon, forming a grand total of 720 different pocket monsters.
Pokémon X & Y Versions
Next up, the most recent sixth generation of Pokemon games, Pokemon X Version and Pokemon Y Version, contained a staggering 72 new Pokemon, bringing the total to a whopping 721 available creatures!
