When are the Bowl Games Announced?
College football fans know that no year is complete without the annual round of Bowl Games. The question on everyone’s mind is when will these games be announced? The answer depends on the tier of Bowl game you are looking for.
The Earlier Bowl Games
The announcement for earlier bowl games is typically made at the beginning of November. Here is when to expect the announcement for each of these games:
- Cure Bowl: November 21
- New Orleans Bowl: November 21
- Boca Raton Bowl: November 21
- Frisco Bowl: November 21
- New Mexico Bowl: November 28
- Boca Raton Bowl: November 28
- Las Vegas Bowl: November 28
The Later Bowl Games
The announcement for the later bowl games tends to be made in late November or early December. Here is when to expect the announcement for each of these games:
- Rose Bowl: December 4
- Orange Bowl: December 4
- Sugar Bowl: December 4
- Cotton Bowl: December 5
- Peach Bowl: December 6
- Fiesta Bowl: December 7
The earlier bowl games tend to be the lesser ranking games, and for the most part the later bowl games are the higher ranking ones. These games all culminate in the College Football Playoff, which will take place from December 29 to January 1. The game times and announcements for these larger games will typically be announced on Selection Sunday, which will take place on December 8.
