The first game ever released was Kirby’s Dream Land which was released in 1992 for the Nintendo Game Boy. It was the first of many of the light-hearted Kirby titles created by the developer HAL Laboratory.
Kirby’s Dream Land is an action platformer, where the main objective is for Kirby to traverse the various levels of Dream Land and save it from destruction by the greedy King Dedede. Players have to overcome obstacles, such as puzzles, traps and enemies, in order to progress. Each stage also has various power-ups that can be collected in order to help Kirby in his mission.
Kirby has the ability to inhale and then swallow his enemies in order to gain new abilities. Each enemy swallowed will grant Kirby a unique power and new abilities.
