Will Call of Duty Be on Game Pass?
Call of Duty is a hugely popular series of first-person shooter games. Fans of the games are always eager to find out if any of the Call of Duty titles will be added to the Xbox Game Pass library.
But, when will Call of Duty be available on Game Pass? Unfortunately, there is no simple answer.
The Challenges of Putting Call of Duty on Game Pass
Microsoft and Activision, the company behind the Call of Duty series, have not announced any partnership that would bring the games to the Xbox Game Pass library.
A few challenges lie in the way of Call of Duty coming to Game Pass. The first hurdle is the fact that these games are incredibly popular, and Activision can make quite a bit of money through individual sales. Therefore, they might find it difficult to make the financial leap to moving over to Game Pass.
The second challenge has to do with the way the Call of Duty series is structured. Each game is usually followed by several downloadable content (DLC) packs. These add-ons would have to be bought separately, even if the game was on Game Pass.
Signs of Hope?
While nothing has been officially confirmed, Microsoft and Activision have been hinting at the possibility of the Call of Duty series being available on the Xbox Game Pass.
In the backend of 2020, Xbox launched their own version of the franchise. This was a great sign that Xbox and Activision were getting closer together and willing to collaborate.
The other encouraging sign is that Game Pass has had a lot of success with their partnerships with third-party developers. More and more popular games are being added to the library, and this could be indicative of a deal with Activision and the Call of Duty franchise.
Will We See Call of Duty on Game Pass?
It’s difficult to say definitively when we’ll see the Call of Duty franchise on Xbox Game Pass. There are still quite a few challenges that need to be addressed before that becomes a reality.
However, the signs are encouraging and Xbox and Activision are starting to work more closely together. With that being said, Call of Duty could make an appearance on Xbox Game Pass in the near future.
Until then, fans will have to wait and see what collaboration these two powerful companies come up with.
