Where Was The Hunger Games Filmed?
The Hunger Games movie franchise, consisting of four films released from 2012 – 2015, was adapted from the novels of the same name written by Suzanne Collins. It was filmed almost entirely in the US state of Georgia. Filming also took place in Hawaii and North Carolina.
Filming Locations In Georgia
- Shelby Farms – Shelby Farms, in Memphis Tennessee, was used for the District 12 scenes in the first movie of the franchise. At one point in the movie, Katniss walks in a meadow of wildflowers. That scene was filmed at Shelby Farms.
- Three Mills Studios – This British studio hosted a lot of Hunger Games scenes. It included elaborate sets of the Capitol, District 12, and Peeta’s kitchen. It doubled as an arena for some of the fight scenes in The Hunger Games: Catching Fire.
- Yonah Mountain Vineyards – This winery in Cleveland, Georgia is where Katniss takes a tour before she competes in the games.
- Atalanta Motor Speedway – Fox shoots Production used this race track in Hampton, Georgia to recreate the exterior of the Capitol City.
Other Locations
Hawaii – Scenes involving water in the first movie, The Hunger Games, were filmed in Oahu, Hawaii. A specific location used was the Seven Sacred Pools, located in Hana, Hawaii.
North Carolina – The filming of the District 11 scenes in The Hunger Games movie took place on location in Charlotte, North Carolina.
In the end, the entire Hunger Games movie franchise was filmed in three US states – Georgia, Hawaii and North Carolina, as well as parts of the UK.
