Army Navy Football Classic
Where will the 2023 edition be played?
The Army Navy football classic is one of the most anticipated Division 1 college football games of the year. Since 1890, the two US Military Academies have been squaring off in a battle for America’s bragging rights. To date, Navy has dominated the series as they lead 61-52-7 with one tie game. But, where will the Army Navy game be played in 2023?
The 2023 game will be held at the historic Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia, PA. Not only will Philadelphia be the home of the 2023 edition of the game, but it looks like it could become the permanent home of the classic in the future.
This won’t be the first time that the Army Navy game has been hosted in Philadelphia. The first ever rendition of the game was held in Philadelphia back in 1890, and there were a few interruptions to the classic between 1899 and 1901 due to Yellow Fever concerns. Aside from that, the classic has been held in Philadelphia 7 times.
Reinvigorate an Old Tradition
The2023 game will be a special event, as the organizers of the Army Navy game plan to bring back traditions of old. This includes creating a “brigade” of cadets and midshipmen leading a march of thousands to the stadium, rekindling a tradition that was last seen in 1975.
Additionally, fans are encouraged to bring their old pep rally flags to the game in order to keep the spirit alive. There will also be a special flyover for the opening ceremony to honor the veterans and current members of the US military.
The 2023 Army Navy football classic at Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia promises to be an event unlike any other. This year marks the 133rd edition of this rivalry, and Philadelphia is set to reinvigorate the traditions that made the game a classic.
