A Look at Dragons that Have Died in Game of Thrones
Game of Thrones has a wide range of mythical creatures, from direwolves, to dragons, to White Walkers. Perhaps one of the most iconic creatures of the series is the dragon. Even though these majestic creatures are revered, several dragons have been killed in the series including:
Viserion was first hatched by Daenerys Targaryen, and was given its name in honor of her deceased brother Viserys. In Season 7, Viserion was killed by the Night King, and brought back to life as a wight dragon.
Rhaegal was the brother of Drogon and Viserion and was given as a gift to Daeneys by Illyrio. Rhaegal was slain by Euron in the Battle of King’s Landing in the 8th season.
Least of the Three
The least of the three dragons was never given a name, and hatched while the Targaryen army was besieged in Meereen. This dragon was not directly killed by another person, but died as a result of being confined and malnourished in the Great Pyramid, where it was kept until it passed away.
In conclusion, at least three dragons have died in Game of Thrones. While Viserion and Rhaegal were killed in battle and Least of the Three died due to neglect, the dragons remain an iconic and important part of the Game of Thrones universe.
