Mexico Defeats Guatemala in Soccer Match
The Mexican national soccer team stormed onto the field on August 16th for their matchup against Guatemala. Despite multiple goal-scoring opportunities for Guatemala, El Tri emerged victorious with a final score of 3-2.
Mexico had three players find the back of the net during their encounter against Guatemala. First to grab a goal was Jesus Corona, who assisted on Leonel Montes’ goal that made it 2-0 Mexico. Then, in the 38th minute, Montes returned the favor to Corona, setting up the former’s goal and giving Mexico a 3-0 lead.
Guatemala’s Attempted Comeback
Midway through the second half, Guatemala struck back, with goals from Minor Lopez and Carlos Ruiz reducing the deficit to one. In the following minutes, Guatemala put on an inspired performance, in search of the equalizer. However, it would ultimately be in vain as Mexico held on to the lead, securing all three points and ultimately winning the match with a final score of 3-2.
The victory was Mexico’s first in their CONCACAF Nations League campaign, and it comes against a Guatemala team who have a good history between the two nations.
