Yankees Win 2020 American League Wild Card Game

The New York Yankees won the 2020 American League Wild Card game versus the Cleveland Indians Wednesday night, extending their 2020 postseason into the American League Division Series.

Yankees Overview

The Yankees finished the regular season at 33-27, winning the American League East division title and securing the fifth-seed in the 2020 MLB Playoffs. Since this is the first year of expanded postseason, the Yankees had to face the Cleveland Indians in what came to be a thrilling wild card game.

Yankees and Indians Showdown

The game was a battle between Zack Plesac for the Indians and Deivi Garcia for the Yankees. Everyone expected to see a low-scoring game, however, the Yankees erupted for six runs off of Garrett Crockett in the bottom of the 12th inning.

The final score was Yankees 10, Indians 9 after extra innings in a much-anticipated playoff showdown.

The Yankees had a mentality and hunger all game, and finally broke through in the end. The Yankees advance to the ALDS and will begin play either Saturday or Sunday.
